Lifestyle Medicine

Lifestyle medicine is a type of preventive medicine that relies on evidence-based behavioral interventions to treat, prevent, and manage lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, lung disease, heart disease, obesity, and other chronic diseases. It aims to prevent these chronic conditions by changing unhealthy lifestyle habits, whose prolonged exposure can cause several health problems.

The widespread adoption of lifestyle medicine transforms the health system into a more sustainable one. Physicians primarily focus on six pillars of lifestyle medicine: nutrition, physical activity, stress management, sleep restoration, social connection, and avoidance of risky substances. Emphasizing these six pillars and integrating them into practice can significantly prevent chronic conditions and improve patient outcomes.
